Jakarta (WNAM MONITORING): President Prabowo Subianto will make his inaugural state visit to Beijing, China, from November 8–10, 2024, the Foreign Affairs Ministry informed on Tuesday.
According to a written statement issued by the ministry here, Prabowo will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and other high-ranking officials during the visit.
“This visit holds significant importance for the commitment to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Indonesia and China in various fields,” the ministry said.
Prabowo will be visiting China at the invitation of President Xi, it added.
The ministry said earlier that after China, Prabowo will travel to Peru for the APEC Summit in Lima from November 10–16.
He will next visit Brazil for the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, scheduled on November 18 and 19.
In his absence, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka will temporarily assume presidential duties, Presidential Communications Office head Hasan Nasbi said on October 30.
Singapore PM’s visit
Before leaving for China, Prabowo will receive a state visit from Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Wednesday (November 6). Wong had met Prabowo after the latter’s inauguration as President on October 20 in Jakarta.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Rolliansyah Soemirat said on October 31 that Prabowo and Wong will cover many agendas during their meeting, including issues of mutual interest, such as those regarding ASEAN.
“We expect the meeting will produce positive outcomes for the best interest of our two countries,” Soemirat added.
