(WNAM Monitoring): The Australian government has recently announced a significant contribution of 20 million dollars to support the Afghan population. This donation marks a crucial step in providing humanitarian aid and reflects Australia’s commitment to international welfare and solidarity.
The Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release on Saturday, the 25th of December that the Australian government has allocated 20 million dollars for the Afghan people.
According to the press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this amount is intended for the people of Afghanistan and Afghans who have migrated to neighbouring countries.
Australia has allocated 20 million dollars to the Afghan people at a time when Afghan citizens in Pakistan and Iran are facing the threat of forced deportation, with thousands being expelled daily through the Islam Qala, Torkham, and Spin Boldak borders from Pakistan into Afghanistan.
This comes as Australia has announced a total contribution of 265 million dollars to the UNHCR at the “Global Refugee Forum,” mainly for the Rohingya people in Myanmar and Bangladesh.
It’s noteworthy that just yesterday, the Canadian Ministry of Immigration also provided 21 million dollars to support vulnerable Afghan refugees in Pakistan and Central Asian countries.
The Australian government had previously also provided aid to the people of Afghanistan.
These continued efforts highlight the ongoing international support for Afghanistan, especially during a period of heightened challenges and humanitarian needs.
