The killing of over 40 persons in Kurram Agency the other day was worst sectarian episode the like of which was not seen in the near past in the country. Kurram has always been a very sensitive hotbed of sectarianism like DIK, and in the past not once but many times Shia Sunni clashes had occurred in this tribal area.

It seems that the roads leading to Kurram from Hangu were not properly monitored. Knowing fully that these roads had been abused by the lunatic fringe on both sides of the religious divide in the past, the law enforcing authorities should have kept them under strict surveillance.

After this unfortunate incident the period leading up to Moharram 2025 nay upto chehlum will need foolproof security arrangements in KPK to preempt any reaction from the side which had lost lives and limbs in this sectarian violence .
