Law and order situation in the country has been going from bad to worse by the day. The Kurram tragedy will have serious ramifications and repurcussions if urgent concrete corrective steps weren’t taken by those who move in the corridors of power. Though Kurram, like other areas of former FATA stand merged with KPK but the fact of the matter is that for all practical purposes it is a tribal agency and criminal and civil issues are best solved by tribal jirgas so the JI has a point there when it suggests formation of a conciliatory jirga for defusing the present tense law and order situation there.
The government will have to take on board religious chieftains of every school of thought and get them hammer out a peace formula for incorporating into a code of ethics containing guide lines as how to ensure peace and tranquility in future.
Moharram 2025 isn’t far away In order to ensure holding of Majalis peacefully during Moharram right up to chehlum a foolproof code of ethics will have to be drafted with the consent of all the religious bigwigs representing different different viewpoints.
Nothing should be left to chance.
