WNAM MONITORING: Westminster International University in Tashkent hosted the third International Conference on Business and Economics.

The event, attended by more than 30 experts from 13 countries, including Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, the UAE, India, Pakistan, Cyprus, Malaysia, Indonesia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, included presentations by representatives of the University of Westminster in London, Rector Peter Bonfield, Professor Karen Jackson, and Professor of Economics at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan Marco Vivarelli.

The Director of the Center for Economic Research and Reforms Obid Hakimov spoke about the results of the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan, which have significantly affected the economic situation in the country and opened up new horizons for growth and development.

As part of the conference, the Director of the center presented an analysis of the results of economic reforms in Uzbekistan over the past 5 years, as well as the country’s development prospects until 2030.

An essential theme of the discussion was the green economy. Uzbekistan has already fulfilled the task of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 35%. In addition, by the end of this year, the total installed capacity of renewable energy sources (RES) will reach 7.6 GW, which will allow to talk about the share of RES in the total generation volume at the level of 18% and an increase in their share to 40% by 2030.
