Time was when navy ruled the roost in the defence forces of every country. The popular slogan was Britannia rules the waves. Lately it is the Air Force which has become a predominant force to reckon with among the armed forces. Wars are no longer won by hand to hand fights .Any country which has state of the art fighter jets and missiles capable to hit far flung targets carry the day. It is of paramount importance therefore that the high standard of performance shown by the PAF in every field is maintained which has become possible due to the selection in the Air Force based on merit and merit alone. The first two Air Marshals Asghar khan and Nur khan deserve accolades for laying solid foundations of PAF Academy Risalpur.
The PAF needs to keep itself fully equipped with the latest jet fighters also and further develop its aeronautical branch to boot use of different types of missiles. US-Iran recent armed clashes also checkmated Israeli aggression against Iran to a great extent which proved their effectiveness.
POSTSCRIPT: Next round of parleys between the combatants of the current war in the middle east is to be held in Islamabad after the burial of Imam Khamenai and it is hoped that some positive result will come out of it.
