The oldies like us have heard from the senior jurists that a judge should not be a speaking judge He should avoid indulging in unwarranted verbal duels with the counsels during the hearing of cases in his court room whatever he wants to say he had better say it in his written judgements as danger in wrangling with the lawyers is that unwittingly he may make remarks from which it is not difficult for the listeners to know his bent of mind about the case which he is adjudicating and they may easily form an opinion as to which side is he on in the case under trial in his court.
This country has produced many outstanding judges. Reference can be had to Justice Cornelius, Constantine, Dorab Patel, Samdani, Rustam Kayani, Sir Abdul Rashid, Allah Baksh to mention a few who were epitome of financial and moral integrity.
They were brave, just and impartial to the core. The younger judges of this country are lucky to have such
persons as their role models. We certainly need judges like them in the apex courts of the country today .
