Jakarta ( WNAM MONITORING0: Indonesia’s Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya explored further cooperation with the United States-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) to encourage the role of the creative economy sector as a new engine of growth.
“Indonesia and the US have a rich cultural history and a dynamic creative sector. With collaboration, we can open up opportunities for growth and innovation,” Harsya noted in a statement from his ministry received on Friday.
In the Indonesia Business Mission event in Jakarta on Wednesday (December 4), the minister underlined that to improve the strategic partnership between his ministry and the USABC, best practice sharing must be carried out in terms of creative economy regulations and facilitation.
He also welcomed the initiative of each USABC member to develop the creative economy sector in Indonesia and invited them to invest in potential creative industry sub-sectors and carry out joint exchange collaboration programs.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy—currently operating as two separate ministries—entered into a formal collaborative partnership with USABC in the creative sector on March 17, 2022, with the agreement scheduled to conclude on March 17, 2025.
At the meeting, Minister Harsya expressed openness to continue the existing cooperation.
“We acknowledge the strong US creative industry and its expertise in areas such as technology-based industries, film production, music, animation, and many more,” he remarked.
