President Tokayev shares his vision of AI promotion in Kazakhstan

WNAM MONITORING: President of Kazakhstan has shared his thoughts on promotion of artificial intelligence as well as highlighted the huge potential the country has in the IT sector.

The Kazakh leader highlighted the importance of building an economy based on knowledge and innovations.

To become an advanced nation in terms of technology and economy, it’s of particular significance to pay special attention to the development of human capital, digitalization and AI… According to experts, AI will see growing efficiency with each passing year. So, we’re facing ambitious tasks to turn Kazakhstan into a major digital hub in Eurasia, said Tokayev.

The President of Kazakhstan recalled that he had previously put forward the initiative to establish the National AI Center in his state-of-the-nation address. Tokayev suggested granting the Center an international status, making it a key institute to push the development of artificial intelligence in the region.

The International Center AlemAI needs to become an epicenter of AI movement and a symbol of digital transformation of Kazakhstan. This platform is set to bring together the best minds of the country and attract talents from around the world. The Center is to house research and development labs, programming school and offices of international tech companies. Astana Hub and AlemAI are to be factories to push innovations indeed, attracting international partners, promoting research and developing solutions to all the key sectors of the economy, from education to the social sphere, said the Head of State.

President Tokayev pointed to the importance of continuing the work to establish an institutional environment. Upon his instruction, the Kazakh government adopted the 2024/29 AI Development Concept, the Head of State added.

It’s important to consolidating the principles of responsible use of AI, ethic aspects, at the legislative level as well as ensure transparency and openness of its development and use, noted the Kazakh President.

Kazakh President Tokayev also drew attention to the development of AI infrastructure, pointing to the growing demand for modern computing capabilities.
