WNAM REPORT: President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent deep condolences to Acting President of the Republic of Korea Choi Sang-mok in connection with the crash of the passenger plane of Jeju Air, which resulted in numerous casualties and injuries, as per reports.
“On behalf of the people, the Government of Turkmenistan and himself personally, the head of state expressed words of sincere sympathy and support to the families and friends of those killed at this difficult moment, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured,” the statement said.
Jeju Air Flight 7C 2216, a Boeing 737-800 flying from Bangkok to Muan, overshot the runway and crashed into a fence while landing at the airport on December 29. A fire broke out. There were 181 people on board, including six crew members. According to the latest information, 179 people died.
