WNAM REPORT: The Pakistani government has expressed heartfelt condolences over the tragic loss of lives caused by the earthquake in Xizang region of China.
The Spokesperson of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement on Tuesday said that “we extend our support to the people and government of China in their relief efforts. He said that “our thoughts remain with the injured and those still missing. We also extend best wishes for the ongoing rescue operations.”
A powerful earthquake shook China’s remote Xizang region during the early hours killing dozens of people while tremors were also felt in Nepal and many areas of India.
According to Pakistan’s National Seismic Monitoring Centre based in Islamabad, an earthquake struck on 7 January, 2025 in Xizang with a magnitude of 7.0 and its depth was 10 kilometers. As per the China’s Earthquake Networks Center (CENC), the quake struck Dingri County with a magnitude of 6.8 near the border with Nepal.
