WNAM MONITORING: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation highlighting the achievements and future objectives in the electrical engineering sector.

This industry accounts for 3.5 percent of the country’s industrial output and 10 percent of goods exports. Last year, the sector produced goods worth 31 trillion UZS and exported $1.3 billion. Investments totaling $516 million were utilized, and 85 new enterprises were launched. Currently, the industry employs more than 27,000 citizens.

At a video conference held on September 5 last year, additional opportunities to enhance efficiency in the sector were identified, forming the basis for several tasks planned for the current year.

During the presentation, the Chairman of the Uzeltechsanoat Association reported that 290 new projects, with a total value of $4 billion, are set to be launched in various regions this year. Additionally, $600 million in investments is expected to be utilized, and the copper processing rate will increase to 75 percent.

First and foremost, it is essential to utilize localization programs effectively. This year, the country plans to implement investment projects worth $75 billion, $28 billion of which can be supported through domestically produced goods.

Additional land plots have been allocated to expand the electrical engineering cluster: 200 hectares in Akhangaran, 10 hectares in Fergana, and 4 hectares in Urgench. Infrastructure worth 181 billion UZS has been developed to support these initiatives.

Entrepreneurs will now be allowed to construct ready-made buildings in technoparks and sell them to businesses in electrical engineering and related industries. It is proposed to exempt entrepreneurs implementing high-tech production from paying profit and property taxes for three years.

This initiative will create opportunities for launching new projects, including a $68 million project in Akhangaran copper cluster and projects in Kashkadarya, Fergana, and Urgench, totaling $30 million.

A guaranteed market worth 15 trillion UZS is also being established for the sale of products across various ministries and industrial sectors. Additionally, a procurement system is being developed to supply renewable energy devices for social infrastructure from local manufacturers.

The President emphasized that this sector is crucial in the green economy and sustainable development. In this regard, he instructed stakeholders to fully utilize local resources and provide entrepreneurs with additional support in terms of infrastructure, financing, and raw material supplies.

Officials noted that these measures could increase annual exports to $3 billion and production volumes to 50 trillion UZS.

The discussion also covered the development of innovations and high-demand products and the training of qualified engineers, technologists, and mid-level specialists.
