The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Pakistan participated in an international seminar on “Regional Trade and Connectivity: Discovering New Horizons and Opportunities” organized by the Institute for Strategic Studies, Research and Analysis (ISSRA) and the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) of Pakistan.

Ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan to Pakistan and Pakistani and foreign economic experts delivered their speeches.

Speakers at the seminar spoke about the enormous prospects for trade and economic relations between the countries of Central and South Asia and discussed the ways to effectively use existing potential.

Ambassador of Turkmenistan A. Movlamov highlighted the active role of Turkmenistan in developing cooperation in the field of transport and energy, as one of the most important priorities of the country’s foreign policy. He made a presentation on the constructive initiatives of the leadership of Turkmenistan, supported by the UN General Assembly and aimed at strengthening energy and transport security, as well as on the declaration by the UN General Assembly of the year 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.

As a vivid example of Turkmenistan’s policy, slides were brought to the attention of the seminar participants about the ceremony of starting the construction of important energy and transport projects on the border of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, carried out in September 2024. It was noted that the implementation of these projects will contribute to further strengthening of peace and trust in the region. The Ambassador of Turkmenistan also spoke about the policy of the leadership of Turkmenistan to expand the transport and transit communications passing through the country in the directions of “East-West” and “North-South”.

Minister of Petroleum and Water Resources of Pakistan Musadiq Masood Malik called for strengthening regional connectivity, which will provide countries of the region with access to vital energy resources. He noted that thanks to the joint projects such as pipelines, transport, and energy corridors, countries of the region can achieve stable and diversified supplies of energy resources, thereby strengthening their energy security.
