WNAM REPORT: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) organized a solemn ceremony to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day, reaffirming unwavering support for the people of Kashmir and their struggle for self-determination. The event featured a documentary highlighting Kashmir’s history and a cultural tableau performed by children dressed in traditional Kashmiri attire, symbolizing the region’s rich heritage and resilient spirit.
The ceremony commenced with the national anthems of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, setting a tone of unity and patriotism. In his welcome address, RCCI President Usman Shaukat emphasized the significance of observing Kashmir Solidarity Day: “It aims to awaken the international community to play its role in the just resolution of the Kashmir issue and to send a strong message to the Kashmiri people that Pakistan’s citizens and business community stand firmly with them. We must become an economic powerhouse so that our voice is heard and respected globally.”
Group Leader and Former RCCI President Sohail Altaf expressed optimism, stating, “Kashmir will one day be free from Indian occupation.” Addressing the gathering, Sardar Masood Khan highlighted the immense sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people, noting, “Over 500,000 lives have been lost in the struggle. Our efforts must continue until the world listens and acknowledges our cause.”
Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan reiterated the sentiment, declaring, “Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan.” He shed light on the plight of Kashmiri political prisoner Dr. Muhammad Qasim Faktoo, incarcerated for 29 years, describing him as the “Mandela of South Asia.” He also emphasized Azad Kashmir’s economic potential, rich in rare minerals, dense forests, tourism opportunities, and a vibrant diaspora contributing globally.
Mushaal Hussein Mullick, wife of Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, passionately condemned the silence of human rights organizations regarding the atrocities in Kashmir. She detailed the harsh conditions faced by Kashmiri leaders in Indian jails, subjected to severe torture. “The RSS has completely hijacked India. The Modi government seeks the death penalty for my husband, Yasin Malik, who remains imprisoned because he resists their oppressive agenda,” she stated.
Abdullah Gul described Pakistan as “a symbol of hope,” while Hurriyat leader Altaf Hussain Wani urged the global community to look beyond Indian propaganda. Ghulam Nabi called on the world to respond to peaceful movements and expose India’s true face behind the facade of democracy.
The ceremony was attended by Group Leader Sohail Altaf, Senior Vice President Khalid Farooq Qazi, Vice President Fahad Barlas, former RCCI presidents, executive committee members, women members, and a large number of chamber members.
Event Chairperson Falak Anjum expressed heartfelt gratitude to the RCCI leadership, senior members, and the entire organizing team for their support in making the event a success.
