ISLAMABAD :(WNAM REPORT): Indonesia and Pakistan share a deep-rooted and fraternal relationship, which both nations are determined to strengthen through enhanced trade, business collaboration, tourism, and investment opportunities. This commitment was reaffirmed by Indonesian Charge d’Affaires, Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma, during an interactive session at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).
Addressing a gathering of business leaders and ICCI executive members, Kusuma emphasized Indonesia’s dedication to facilitating economic initiatives that benefit both nations. He highlighted the significance of 2025 as the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-Pakistan diplomatic relations, underscoring the importance of expanding economic partnerships.
“Pakistan has strong potential in the pharmaceutical, textile, agriculture, rice, and meat industries. Both sides can significantly contribute to strengthening our bilateral relationship by enhancing trade cooperation,” Kusuma stated. He also acknowledged the need to address the trade imbalance between the two countries and welcomed measures to boost Pakistani exports to Indonesia.
ICCI President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi, in his welcome address, highlighted the historical, religious, cultural, political, and economic ties between Indonesia and Pakistan. He stressed that diversified trade opportunities, single-country exhibitions, business delegation exchanges, and joint investment ventures are key to reducing the trade gap.
Additionally, he called for deeper collaboration in student exchange programs, digital marketing, e-commerce, tourism, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare, recognizing their potential to drive investment and business growth.
During the interactive session, former ICCI President Mian Shaukat Masood, Executive Member Fatima Azim, and Special Advisor to ICCI President Naeem Siddiqui shared insightful suggestions for expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
The session concluded with a collective resolve to foster stronger economic ties and create mutually beneficial trade and investment opportunities between Indonesia and Pakistan.
