WNAM REPORT: On February 26, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko held a meeting with Jaap Ora, Ambassador of Estonia to Kazakhstan.
The sides noted dynamic and progressive development of relations and discussed the current state and future prospects of cooperation, both in the bilateral format and on various international platforms. Special attention was given to expanding trade and economic ties, as well as collaboration in transport, logistics, and digitalization.
The diplomats also reviewed the outcomes of the 7th meeting of the Kazakhstan-Estonia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, held on January 23-24, 2025, in Tallinn (IGC is co-chaired by Marat Karabayev, Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan, and Margus Tsahkna, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia).
Deputy Minister Vassilenko emphasized that the implementation of the agreements reached is crucial for deepening relations between Astana and Tallinn.
Both parties expressed their readiness to continue close partnership in areas of mutual interest and outlined the schedule of events for 2025, including preparations for high-level and top-level visits.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Vassilenko congratulated the Estonian diplomat on the 107th anniversary of Estonia’s independence, wishing peace, prosperity, and well-being to its people.
The volume of mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Estonia in 2024 amounted to $71.7 million, which is 54% less than in 2023 (157.5 million). Exports from Kazakhstan amounted to $38.7 million, imports to Kazakhstan – $33 million. Since 2012, Estonia has contributed $98.3 million in direct investments to Kazakhstan. By the end of September 2024, Kazakhstan attracted $13.6 million in investments from Estonia.
In early September 2024, newly-appointed Ambassador of Estonia to Kazakhstan Jaap Ora presented copies of his credentials to Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov.
