Islamabad (WNAM REPORT ): The High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Bin Mazlan, reaffirmed Malaysia’s strong commitment to enhancing Malaysia-Pakistan relations and promoting ASEAN’s collective growth during an Iftar dinner hosted for the Pakistani media.
In his address, the High Commissioner extended warm Ramadan greetings, emphasizing the values of unity, reflection, and generosity that define the holy month. He highlighted Malaysia’s priorities as the incoming ASEAN Chair in 2025, emphasizing the nation’s dedication to strengthening ASEAN’s role as a people-centred, forward-looking, and resilient organization.
“Under the theme ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability,’ Malaysia aims to promote regional peace, stability, and economic growth while fostering sustainable and inclusive development,” said Mr. Azhar. The High Commissioner outlined key objectives for Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship, which include:
– Enhancing ASEAN Centrality by promoting strategic trust, sustained dialogues, and diplomacy.

– Expanding ASEAN’s global partnerships and boosting intra-ASEAN trade and investment.

– Driving economic progress through digital resilience, green finance, and investment.

– Narrowing development gaps, improving living standards, and addressing climate change impacts.

The High Commissioner also reiterated Malaysia’s commitment to accelerating the admission of Timor-Leste as ASEAN’s 11th member, further strengthening regional unity.
Recognizing the media’s vital role in fostering greater understanding and awareness of ASEAN’s vision, the High Commissioner invited Pakistani media representatives to become active partners in promoting ASEAN’s commitment to unity and progress.

“Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025 is not just about diplomacy—it’s about building a shared future of peace, prosperity, and mutual respect,” he stated.

Concluding his remarks, the High Commissioner expressed gratitude to the attendees, reaffirming Malaysia’s unwavering dedication to strengthening bilateral ties with Pakistan and driving ASEAN’s

collective growth. He extended heartfelt Ramadan wishes, underscoring the spirit of friendship and cooperation.
