WNAM MONITORING: Turkmenistan extended official invitations to United Nations representatives for an international conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the country’s Permanent Neutrality, set to take place in December in Ashgabat, as reported by the Turkmenistan’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva.
On April 3, 2025, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN in Geneva, Vepa Hajyyev, held meetings with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, and the Director-General of the UN Office in Geneva, Tatiana Valova.
During the talks, the sides discussed cooperation issues and the international agenda. Both UN representatives were presented with official invitations on behalf of Turkmenistan’s National Leader, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to attend the international conference.
A Turkmen delegation participated in the UNECE Regional Forum on Sustainable Development from April 2-4. During the forum, Turkmenistan’s national priorities for implementing the Sustainable Development Goals were presented, including gender equality, decent work, green transition, and marine ecosystem protection.
