WNAM MONITORING: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, during the latest Cabinet of Ministers meeting emphasized the necessity of expanding the range and increasing the volume of textile industry production, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov also highlighted the importance of considering international experience in improving the activities of the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and issued relevant instructions to the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerguly Atagulyyev.
According to Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Atagulyyev’s report, the first quarter of the current year showed positive dynamics in key indicators. The trade turnover of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations increased by 13%, and production increased by 1.2%.
The textile sector demonstrated impressive results, achieving a growth rate of 14.2%. Cotton yarn production increased by 42.9%, fabric production by 50.9%, sewing and knitwear products by 4.3%, and leather products by 40.4%.
During the reporting period, the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange held 72 trading sessions, registering 6878 transactions. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry increased its output by 2.1%.
Private business, represented by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, also showed steady growth: agricultural and food production grew by 7.1%, while industrial production grew by 4.3%.
The government meeting reviewed the results of the work carried out in the country during the first three months of the current year.
