WNAM REPORT: The 5th anniversary meeting of health ministers from member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) took place in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Health ministers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Türkiye attended the meeting. Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, participated as a guest.
Participants discussed various topics, including healthcare system development within OTS countries, opportunities for expanding partnerships in the medical and pharmaceutical industries, the role of international organizations in these fields, and the approval of the Action Plan for 2025-2026.
In his speech, Kubanychbek Omuraliev, OTS Secretary General, emphasized the significant progress made in cooperation among member states and implementing the Action Plan adopted in 2023. He also highlighted the essential role of the WHO Regional Office for Europe in the realization of joint projects.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan Asilbek Khudayarov emphasized the importance of professional development for medical personnel, expanding experience exchange programs, and advancing joint educational initiatives.
At the meeting, participants also discussed pressing issues in the healthcare sector, exchanging experience and knowledge among experts, scientists, and representatives of educational and research institutions.
Following the discussions, a Joint Declaration was signed, highlighting the significant role of digital technologies in healthcare. The parties agreed to exchange knowledge and experiences regarding implementing digital medical solutions, including electronic prescription systems, among member states and observer countries of the Organization of Turkic States.
