WNAM REPORT: On April 9, the delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the 71st session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), held in Geneva.
The session brought together representatives of member countries, international organizations and UN structures to discuss current issues in the field of sustainable development, digital transformation, green economy, trade and transport within the European region and beyond. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
As part of its participation in the session, the delegation of Turkmenistan expressed its readiness to further strengthen cooperation with the UNECE and demonstrated its commitment to active participation in initiatives implemented by UN organizations aimed at developing a sustainable, inclusive and balanced economy in the region.
Particular attention within the session agenda was paid to issues of digitalization of trade and transport processes, improvement of regional connectivity, support for climate-resilient infrastructure and deepening of interregional partnership.
The event was also attended by the Director-General of the UN Office at Geneva, Tatyana Valovaya. Speaking to the session participants, she stressed the importance of strengthening regional cooperation in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the source notes.
