Tashkent ( WNAM MONITORING ): From 9 to 11 April 2025, a series of events called the “Road Show” took place in Pakistan, organized by the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan with the support of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The project’s goal was to present Uzbekistan’s rich tourism potential to key industry players, including tour operators, hotel business representatives, business circles, and the media.
The first event of the “Road Show” took place in Lahore, one of the largest cities in Pakistan with a population of over 14 million people. More than 500 representatives of the tourism industry participated, including leaders from the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the South Asia Research Center, as well as Uzbek tour operators and officials.
The presentation, “Uzbekistan — The Pearl of the Silk Road,” highlighted the country’s cultural and historical heritage.
Business negotiations in B2B, G2B, and G2G formats were held to strengthen partnership ties.
A presentation by the airline “Uzbekistan Airways” highlighted new opportunities for direct tourism flows.
The potential of Uzbekistan’s pilgrimage, winter, mountain, and gastronomic tourism was showcased.
Mian Abuzar Shad, President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: “The tourism potential between Uzbekistan and Pakistan is enormous. We are interested in developing not only cultural and historical tourism but also business and medical tourism. For this, active interaction between the governments and business communities of both countries is essential.”
Nasir Mahmood Bashir, head of the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab, noted: “Special attention should be given to promoting Uzbekistan in Pakistan, focusing on significant sacred sites for Pakistanis, such as the mausoleum of Imam Al-Bukhari. Our historical ties provide a strong foundation for new joint projects.”
As a result of the “Road Show,” direct contacts were established between tour operators from both countries, and dozens of mutually beneficial agreements were reached. The event concluded with a concert by Uzbek artists and an exhibition of national crafts and costumes, emphasizing Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage.
The next stages of the “Road Show” will take place in Karachi and Islamabad, where the participation of Pakistan’s tourism industry representatives is expected to be equally active.
