WNAM REPORT : National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, visited the construction site of a new mosque in the city of Arkadag on Wednesday. The mosque is designed to accommodate 30,000 worshippers, the country’s official media reports.
The project includes a separate prayer area for women, designed to hold up to 5,000 people. The construction adheres to both national architectural traditions and modern building standards. The interior is set to feature Quranic verses inscribed in traditional calligraphy.
During his visit, Berdimuhamedov also reviewed plans for the second phase of Arkadag’s development, which includes the construction of social and industrial facilities, as well as the enhancement of streets and avenues. Special attention is being given to the Ahalteke atlary avenue, which is set to be adorned with sculptures of the renowned Ahal-Teke horses.
According to the report, the second phase involves over 50 Turkmen companies and international partners, particularly in the creation of a medical cluster. Efforts are underway to attract foreign investments and grants for the development of eco-friendly technologies, including water purification systems and solar energy solutions.
Founded on June 29, 2023, Arkadag has become the first “smart city” in the country and has received international recognition for its innovative solutions in urban planning, ecology, and digital technologies. The project implements sustainable development principles by combining modern engineering solutions with the concept of a “green” city. Arkadag has earned several prestigious international awards for its achievements.
