WNAM REPORT: Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme, paid a pivotal visit to the Regional Headquarters in Karachi, reviewing the program’s progress and reinforcing BISP’s commitment to transparency and efficiency.
During the visit, DG Sindh provided a comprehensive briefing on BISP’s operations in the Sindh region. He highlighted that under the Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) – Benazir Kafaalat program, financial assistance is being provided to over 2.7 million deserving families. Additionally, the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program for education, Benazir Taleemi Wazaif, has facilitated the enrollment of 2.5 million children, ensuring continued access to education for underprivileged students. The Benazir Nashonuma program, which supports 5.6 million expectant and lactating women and infants, remains essential in addressing nutritional challenges.
Chairperson Rubina Khalid also addressed public grievances, particularly complaints from Sukkur and other districts, stressing the importance of their timely resolution. She instructed officials to ensure that beneficiaries’ concerns are handled efficiently. Additionally, she emphasized the need to safeguard BISP employees so they can perform their duties without fear and continue serving the community effectively.
In a significant directive, Chairperson BISP instructed DG Sindh to approach the Sindh government regarding the establishment of a Director General Office and a One-Window Centre to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency. She also directed Mr. Naveed Khan, consultant (Regional Coordinator), to gather detailed information on Benazir Hunarmand and skill development programs being run by technical institutes across Sindh, reinforcing BISP’s commitment to vocational training and economic empowerment.
The visit reaffirmed BISP’s mission to uplift vulnerable families through financial aid, education, and health-based initiatives, further strengthening its role as a crucial social safety net in Pakistan. In a symbolic gesture, Senator Rubina Khalid planted a tree at the Regional Headquarters, reaffirming BISP’s commitment to community welfare and environmental sustainability.
