WNAM REPORT: Ankara hosted the solemn ceremony of unveiling the bust of the outstanding scientist, thinker, and statesman Ahmad al-Fergani. The event, held in Keçiören district, brought together representatives of cultural and scientific circles, politicians, and the general public.
First Deputy Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan Avazjon Tadjikhanov, Mayor of Keçiören district Mesut Özarslan, Deputy Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture – TURKSOY Sayit Yusuf, representatives of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, diplomatic corps, and academic circles attended the event.
As Mr. Tadjikhanov noted, in recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and Türkiye have reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership. Cultural-humanitarian ties that strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between peoples are significant in this process. According to him, the installation of Ahmad al-Fergani’s bust is a sign of deep respect for the historical legacy and a symbol of spiritual unity.
Mayor of Keçiören district Mesut Özarslan stressed that al-Fergani’s rich scientific legacy is a source of pride for all Turkic peoples. He expressed confidence that the image of the great scientist will become an example for young people and inspire a new generation on the path of knowledge and enlightenment.
In his speech, Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY, Sayit Yusuf, emphasized the importance of Al-Fergani’s contribution to world science, especially in fields such as astronomy, geography, and mathematics. He noted that the installation of the monument serves as a symbol of strengthening the cultural unity of the Turkic world.
The ceremony ended with a festive concert, which gave the event a special atmosphere and left vivid impressions on the guests.
The unveiling of Ahmad al-Fergani’s bust in Ankara was another significant step towards strengthening cultural ties between Türkiye and Uzbekistan.
