Jakarta ( WNAM MONITORING ): Manpower Minister Yassierli invited stakeholders, such as the government, industry and business players, and workers, to enhance strategic collaboration at the commemoration of the 2025 International Workers’ Day.
“The collaboration can start by gathering like today, understanding each other’s aspirations and wishes as we look for the best solution,” he expounded at a May Day event held at Pertamina University, Jakarta, on Thursday.
Yassierli said that strategic synergy between related stakeholders will be essential to respond to the challenges of employment and industry in the near future.
He added that uncertain global economic conditions and other issues will have a direct impact on these sectors.
He further said that challenges related to improving prosperity, enhancing regulations, and strengthening law enforcement are not easy to respond to, given the complexity of Indonesia as a large country.
“Now, what is important is our readiness to face things that are increasingly changing in the employment structure and future challenges,” he said.
The minister also highlighted the high number of informal workers, such as online motorcycle taxi drivers and couriers, which, he said, makes ensuring social protection for workers challenging.
“We must ensure their social protection and (it is predicted that) informal workers will increase in line with the developments in IT,” he added.
Responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) and the global demand for transition to green energy have also become a concern in efforts to ensure Indonesian workers can adapt and compete effectively, he said.
“We must face it together and respond to it with collaboration,” he emphasized.
