WNAM REPORT: Yesterday, a solemn inauguration ceremony for Pope Leo XIV was held in the Vatican. The event was attended by high-ranking representatives from 156 countries and delegations from royal families and religious denominations.
Uzbekistan was represented at the ceremony by Nuriddin Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. He conveyed warm congratulations and best wishes on behalf of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and expressed hope for strengthened interfaith dialogue and cooperation.
In response, Pope Leo XIV expressed his gratitude for the support and emphasized the importance of constructive engagement with Uzbekistan, highlighting the value of intercultural and interfaith harmony.
According to organizers, approximately 250,000 people gathered for the ceremony in St. Peter’s Square and surrounding areas.
