Tashkent ( WNAM MONITORING): An official welcoming ceremony for Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who arrived in Uzbekistan on a state visit, was held at the Kuksaroy residence in Tashkent.
Following the ceremonial reception with an honor guard, talks were held between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Federal President of Germany in both narrow and expanded formats with the participation of delegations.
The sides discussed key areas for further development of Uzbekistan–Germany cooperation, including political dialogue, trade and economic relations, and cultural and humanitarian engagement.
It was noted that bilateral relations are showing steady positive dynamics. Last year, mutual trade exceeded US$1.4 billion, and a further 5 percent increase was recorded this year. German investment in Uzbekistan’s economy reached US$2 billion in 2025.
Particular attention was paid to the results of the German Economy Days in Tashkent and the meeting of the German–Uzbek Business Council, following which investment and trade agreements worth more than US$1 billion were signed.
Cooperation in education and training was also highlighted. The number of German language learners in Uzbekistan is growing, academic mobility is expanding, and plans are in place to open the Uzbek–German University of Applied Sciences in Samarkand.
The sides confirmed interest in further developing cooperation in industry, energy, transport, logistics, mining, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and healthcare.
Following the talks, it was emphasized that the visit of the Federal President of Germany will mark a new stage in the development of bilateral relations.
