WNAM MONITORING: Upon her arrival in Uzbekistan for an official visit, the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, Giorgia Meloni, accompanied by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the Registan architectural ensemble.
The world-famous Registan Square, included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is the country’s prominent landmark, reflecting the creative legacy of its great ancestors. The ensemble’s Mirzo Ulugbek, Sherdor, and Tillaqori madrasahs, with their impressive scale, rich history, and unique architecture, leave a profound impression on the country’s guests.
The distinguished guest was given a detailed introduction to the historical facts surrounding the construction of this jewel of Eastern architecture, the unique architectural and decorative features, the landmark events and figures associated with the site, and the cultural heritage of the Uzbek people.
The leaders then visited the historical and ethnographic park “Eternal City” at the “Silk Road Samarkand” international tourism center. They viewed exhibitions showcasing the rich cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and applied arts of the Uzbek people. A cultural program featuring performances by dance ensembles was also presented.
