WNAM REPORT: On July 7-11, Geneva hosts the WSIS+20 Summit, the World Summit on the Information Society. The delegation from the Center for Progressive Reforms of Uzbekistan is participating in the event for the first time.
This summit serves as a global platform for discussing digital development, advances in information and communication technology, and fostering inclusive dialogue. The 2025 Forum brings together representatives of governments, international organizations, civil society, academia, and the private sector from around the world.
For the first time at the summit, on July 10, the Center for Progressive Reforms will host a special panel session titled “Media and ICT Development in Uzbekistan: Digital Inclusion and Infrastructure Strengthening”. This has been reported by the Center for Progressive Reforms.
The event will showcase the results achieved by Uzbekistan in digitalization and the formation of a sustainable information society. Mirshohid Aslanov, CPR Director, Kadambay Sultanov, Deputy Director, and Ummatoy Yuldasheva, Coordinator of the Digital Generation Uzbekistan initiative, will address the session.
Key reforms aimed at introducing a human-centered e-governance system and expanding access to digital services will be presented to participants. Special attention will be paid to the openness of the digital infrastructure for all segments of the population and the development of an inclusive, reliable media ecosystem that ensures access to information.
“Such international platforms, as WSIS+20, allow independent institutions to share experiences, discuss current issues, and carry out digital transformations transparently and inclusively”, noted M. Aslanov, Director of the Center for Progressive Reforms. “Our delegation’s participation in the summit highlights the growing role of Uzbekistan’s civil society in the global digital agenda”.
