Senate: 172 projects recognized as winners of state grant competition by Parliamentary Commission

WNAM REPORT: A regular meeting of the Parliamentary Commission for the Management of the Public Fund for the Support of Civil Society Institutions under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held.
The meeting addressed issues related to the selection of winners of the state grant competition, announced to address socially significant problems in the regions, as well as the organization of a competition among civil society institutions to receive state social orders.

To identify and analyze social issues present in the regions and to support civil society initiatives, a working group composed of members of the Parliamentary Commission and representatives of the Public Fund conducted monitoring in each region of the country. The competition for state grants aimed at resolving these problems was officially announced.

As noted, 850 project proposals from civil society institutions were submitted to the grant competition through the platform ngo.gov.uz. These projects covered areas such as employment, social protection, healthcare, environmental improvement, education, culture, sports, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, and the fight against corruption.

According to the analysis, 66 percent of the projects were developed by non-governmental non-profit organizations, 29 percent by citizens’ assemblies (mahalla gatherings), and 4 percent by the media. Based on the evaluation conducted by the working group, the Parliamentary Commission recognized 172 projects as winners across 166 categories of 28 competitions.

The meeting also addressed the organization of a competition among civil society institutions for the implementation of social orders received from several government bodies. In particular, state social orders were received in areas such as social protection, healthcare, education, preservation of cultural heritage, ensuring public safety, combating corruption, and public oversight.

More than 24 billion UZS are planned to be allocated for the implementation of projects by civil society institutions.

In addition, the appeals of several non-governmental non-profit organizations were reviewed, the progress and effectiveness of ongoing projects were analyzed, and relevant decisions were made.
