Uzbekistan and Latvia prepare for the first Rectors’ Forum

WNAM REPORT: At the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, an essential online meeting was held to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in higher education.

The meeting was attended by diplomats, representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of Uzbekistan, the leadership of the Tashkent Chemical-Technological Institute, and Professor Arvīds Barševskis, President of the Council of Rectors of Latvia.

During the discussions, preparations for the first Forum of University Rectors of Uzbekistan and Latvia, scheduled to take place on September 4 in Riga, were discussed. The forum is expected to bring together heads of higher education institutions, education specialists, and members of the academic community.

The parties expressed confidence that this forum will serve as an essential step toward elevating the educational dialogue between the two countries to an institutional level and fostering closer ties between higher education institutions in Europe and Central Asia.

Following the meeting, practical tasks were outlined regarding the coordination of organizational work, the formation of a list of participating universities, and the determination of the forum’s agenda.
