At long last reconstruction work on the old dilapidated houses of two legendary film personalities of sub continent Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor has started for restoring them in their old shape and then converting them into museums. The houses where these two film legends were born are located quite near to each other in the vicinity of famous qissa khawani bazaar Peshawar city.
The Archeology Department KPK plans to complete the reconstruction work in two years period therefore it would be advisable that during this two years period it should get into touch with Saira Bano wife of Dilip Kumar and Rishi Kapoor son of Raj Kapoor and obtain all articles and belongings that had remained in the use of these two film legends for public display in glass boxes which should be kept in these museums. The more such items are collected for this purpose the more visitors they will attract once these museums become operational. A nominal entry fee will have to be levied on visitors to these museums in order to defray the monthly pay of their caretakers and chowkidars.
Needless to say that film actors like these two legends are born once in a blue moon. They are a rare commodity. KPK has, besides these two legends also produced film personalities like Prem Nath, Zia Sarhadi, Gul Hameed, Madu Bala and Saghar Sarhadi. Gul Hameed belonged to Pir piai Nowshera and was hero of silent films when talkies had not yet come in the sub continent and was spotted by the famous film Director A R Kardar in a function in Lahore and persuaded him to join film industry. What a pity he died when he was in his late twenties. His last resting place is in Amangarh. Such a handsome film hero was not seen by Bollywood and Lollywood in its over 100 year history which started in 1913. Zia Sarhadi will always be remembered for producing a classic like Humlog which was a very bold experiment in promoting socialistic ideas in the sub continent in 1950s. He belonged to famous Sethi family of Peshawar city. Saghar Sarhadi was a film poet born and bred in village Batal in Hazara division of KPK. Vinod Khanna a debonair hero was born and bred in Peshawar cantonment. He was closely related to Mehr Chand Khanna a prominent Congress party leader of KPK before partition.
