Even today when political interference has crept into the recruitment of work force in almost all the state institutions of the country. it is a matter of satisfaction that merit and merit alone is still the sole criterion for joining the armed forces of this country and one has to attend and pass umpteen war courses to move up in its various cadres. That is the precise reason why in war and even in peace armed forces are deployed by the powers that be to perform multifarious duties in aid of civil
authorities in times of need.
Hardly a day goes by when the valiant army Jawans don’t give sacrifice of life and limb in protecting the geographical boundaries of the country. One gets life only once which our valiant soldiers have been sacrificing daily since long to fail the ulterior motives of our enemies. The patriotic element in the country is, therefore, saddened when eyebrows are raised by some quarters every time increase in
defence budget of the country is made. Nobody should begrudge extension of any monetary facility to our brave soldiers because the sacrifices made by them cannot be matched by other segments of society.
As ill luck would have if we have to willy nilly keep our arms and armament abreast of latest weaponry to face our enemies like India which if experience be any guide cannot be trusted at all.
POST SCRIPT
The powers that be should give priority number one to contain the grown and growing population explosion if we are to ameliorate the teeming lots of our people and lift them up from below the poverty line.
