WNAM MONITORING: The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan led by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza.
The distinguished guest conveyed to the President of Uzbekistan the sincere greetings and best wishes of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif.
The issues of developing multifaceted cooperation and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan in the context of implementing the agreements reached during the visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to Uzbekistan in February this year were discussed.
The intensification of mutual contacts and exchanges at various levels was noted. Since the beginning of the year, trade volumes have increased by 23 percent and freight transportation by 50 percent. Trade houses have been opened in the cities of Karachi and Lahore, and the frequency of direct flights has increased.
Issues of practical cooperation in the military and military-technical spheres were considered, as well as in addressing modern challenges and security threats.
Special attention was given to the prompt practical implementation of the provisions of the trilateral agreement on the Trans-Afghan Railway construction project.
