WNAM REPORT: President Prabowo Subianto officiated Lieutenant General (Ret.) Djamari Chaniago as Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, succeeding Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, who had been serving in an acting capacity.

Djamari was sworn in by President Prabowo along with several other ministers and deputy ministers during the third reshuffle of the Red and White Cabinet.

The newly appointed officials include Erick Thohir as Minister of Youth and Sports; Afriansyah Noor as Deputy Minister of Manpower; Rohmat Marzuki as Deputy Minister of Forestry; Farida Farichah as Deputy Minister of Cooperatives; and Angga Raka Prabowo as Head of the Presidential Communication Office.

The appointments were formalized in Presidential Decree No. 96P of 2025 on the Dismissal and Appointment of Ministers and Deputy Ministers for the 2024-2029 term, dated September 8, 2025.

During the ceremony, the head of state led the swearing-in of the new officials.

“That I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and will strictly enforce all laws and regulations, in the service of my nation and state. That I, in carrying out my official duties, will uphold the ethics of office, work to the best of my ability, with a full sense of responsibility,” the president read the oath, followed by the new officials.

Djamari Chaniago is a retired Indonesian Army officer who last served as Chief of the General Staff (Kasum) from March 8, 2000, to March 16, 2004.

His earlier posts included Deputy Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (1999–2000), Commander of the 24th Army Strategic Reserve Command (1998–1999), and Commander of the III/Siliwangi Regional Military Command (1997–1998).

A 1971 graduate of the Indonesian Military Academy, Djamari is a senior to President Prabowo, who graduated in 1974. After retirement, he became President Commissioner of PT Semen Padang and currently serves on the Board of Medals and Honors for the 2025–2030 term.
