WNAM MONITORING: The presentation of the book “New Uzbekistan: The Path of Shavkat Mirziyoyev” was held at one of the largest and most important office complexes of the U.S. Congress – the Rayburn House Office Building.
The organization of the event in this venue further highlighted the high level of attention and political significance of the presentation. At the same time, it signified the strengthening of dialogue between Uzbekistan and the United States at the highest institutional level.
More than 70 guests attended the presentation on the American side, including representatives from the Department of State, congressional staff, heads of leading think tanks, as well as figures from business, science, culture, and the media.
The official part of the event was opened by Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to the United States Furqat Siddiqov, and the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sodiq Safoyev.
In their speeches, they emphasized that under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a new stage of socio-economic and democratic reforms is being implemented in Uzbekistan, and noted that the book provides an analytical reflection of this path of development.
First Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President of Uzbekistan, Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies Eldor Aripov, as well as Senator Husan Ermatov, also delivered speeches at the event. They emphasized that the ongoing reforms are systemic and comprehensive in nature, shaping an entirely new image of the country.
The participants of the event were provided with detailed information about the content of the book. The foreign guests were also introduced to the book’s author, a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, Qudratilla Rafiqov. The book highlights the main directions and stages of reforms implemented by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev over the past eight years, analyzing their impact on the country’s economic, social, and political development.
Lisa Choate, President and CEO of American Councils, one of the leading U.S. academic exchange institutions, also delivered remarks. In her speech, she emphasized that the core principle of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s policy is supporting education and youth. According to her, unprecedented institutional and legislative changes have been implemented in this sphere in recent years. She also noted that international academic exchanges between Uzbekistan and the United States have entered a qualitatively new stage.
Efgan Nifti, Chief Executive Officer of the Caspian Policy Center, in his speech, noted that the book provides an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the essence of reforms in Uzbekistan.
He emphasized that the efforts of the President of Uzbekistan aimed at strengthening democratic institutions and pursuing an active foreign policy are serving to enhance the country’s international standing, as well as to promote regional cooperation and good-neighborly relations.
Elena Son, Executive Director of the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce, in her remarks, highlighted the wide-ranging changes implemented in the country’s economy under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan. She stressed: “Efforts to liberalize the business environment, attract investment, develop free economic zones, and expand exports of high-value-added products have given new impetus to the national economy and accelerated its integration into the global market”.
She emphasized that this is opening new opportunities for American companies, particularly in projects in the fields of energy, transportation, agriculture, information technology, and aviation, where interest is steadily growing.
Mario Ebcim, Sales Director at Boeing, drew attention to the strategic importance of cooperation with Uzbekistan.
He noted that the efforts undertaken by the President to modernize transport infrastructure and develop the aviation sector are creating significant opportunities for the implementation of new projects, the renewal of the aircraft fleet, and the introduction of modern technologies.
Victor Gotevbe, Editor-in-Chief of the analytical magazine Diplomatic Watch, highly praised the priority given by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to youth policy. In his view, in Uzbekistan, young people are regarded as the country’s strategic resource, and the reforms being implemented in this area create a solid foundation for confidence in the nation’s sustainable socio-economic development.
As part of the presentation, a substantive dialogue was also held with the participation of U.S. officials, experts, and business representatives. They exchanged views on the significance of the reforms being carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and on the prospects for deepening bilateral relations.
Electronic copies of the book were widely distributed to Congress, analytical centers, and influential circles in Washington that can impact political decision-making processes.
The event was also evaluated as a practical example of public diplomacy, serving to strengthen Uzbekistan’s positive image in the United States and promote the development of long-term ties between the people of the two countries.
