WNAM MONITORING: National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Ashgabat Equestrian Complex on Wednesday to inspect preparations for the celebration of Turkmenistan’s 34th Independence Day and to review the results of the facility’s modernization.
According to Turkmenistan’s official media, the complex, which meets modern environmental and international standards, is fully prepared to host festivities and horse races.
Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of creating comfortable conditions for both horses and riders, as well as for guests. He paid special attention to the quality of the racetracks, recommending particular focus on their surface, and the harmonious integration of green spaces with the facility’s infrastructure.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty also highlighted the need for active involvement of horse trainers and breeders in discussions on the development of the equestrian sector. He noted that Turkmen horse breeding should be rooted in national traditions and experience, while also meeting international standards.
Berdimuhamedov visited the Ahalteke Equestrian Complex of the President of Turkmenistan, located in the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains, where modernization efforts are also underway. The National Leader underscored the importance of regular care for Ahalteke horses — a national treasure — and the need to support the work of breeders who preserve the legacy of the “heavenly” horses.
Independence Day is one of Turkmenistan’s most important national holidays, traditionally marked by large-scale cultural and sporting events. Special attention is given to festive horse races, which are organized at a high level of preparation and coordination.
