WNAM REPORT: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the Turkish Red Crescent Society (TRCS), and the Norwegian Red Cross (NorCross), organized the distribution of relief assistance among 216 vulnerable families in Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
As part of the initiative, each family received food packs supported by the Turkish Red Crescent Society, NorCross-supported hygiene kits along with essential household items including buckets, mugs, and jerrycans. The distribution also included IFRC-supported Long Lasting Insecticide-treated Nets (LLINs) and water bottles to help promote better hygiene and prevent disease outbreaks.
In addition, PRCS in collaboration with IFRC extended cash assistance to the most deserving families, providing PKR 22,000 each to 40 pregnant women and PKR 45,000 each as multi-purpose cash grants to 350 families, helping them meet their immediate needs with dignity and choice.
The ceremony was graced by Honorable Chairperson PRCS Mrs. Farzhana Naek, Chairperson PRCS Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Farzand Ali Wazir, Secretary General PRCS Mr. Muhammad Abaidullah Khan, IFRC Head of Delegation in Pakistan Mr. Farid Abdulqadir, Head of Delegation of the Turkish Red Crescent Society in Pakistan Ms. Beyza Taner, along with PRCS staff, volunteers, and Movement partners.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson PRCS Mrs. Farzhana Naek said the initiative reflects PRCS’s continued commitment to reaching the most deserving communities across Pakistan. She added that in collaboration with provincial branches and Movement partners, PRCS is ensuring that help reaches those who need it most. She also thanked IFRC, the Turkish Red Crescent, the Norwegian Red Cross, and all Red Cross Red Crescent partners for their continued support and solidarity in serving humanity.
IFRC Head of Delegation in Pakistan, Mr. Farid Abdulqadir, said that IFRC remains committed to providing much-needed support to families affected by disasters. He reaffirmed IFRC’s steadfast partnership with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society in helping vulnerable communities rebuild their lives with dignity.
Turkish Red Crescent Head of Delegation in Pakistan, Ms. Beyza Taner, said that TRCS stands with the people of Pakistan in times of need and will continue to support the Pakistan Red Crescent Society in its humanitarian efforts to reach families affected by floods and other crises.
During her visit, Mrs. Farzhana Naek also visited the PRCS Swat Branch along with Chairperson PRCS Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Farzand Ali Wazir and the delegation of IFRC, TRCS, and NorCross. The delegation further participated in a Plantation Drive under the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) component supported by IFRC, symbolizing a joint commitment to resilience and a greener, safer future for communities.
