WNAM Monitoring: Cooperation between Uzbekistan and China is strengthening in one of the main drivers of the economy – in building materials.

Head of the Department of O’zsanoatqurilishmateriallari Association Bakhrom Allabergenov focused on joint investment projects implemented in construction materials production:

– In 2023, $978.6 million of foreign direct investment and loans were disbursed within the framework of 58 joint projects in construction materials production. These are projects aimed at producing wallpaper, ceramic tiles, drywall and rebar, and extraction and processing of natural decorative stone.

In particular, in Syrdarya region, Hong Run Wallpaper Production LLC is implementing a $5 million project to produce 1 million rolls of wallpaper per year. Meanwhile, in Fergana region, BNBM Building Materials Central Asia LLC, capable of producing 30 million square meters of drywall and metal profiles per year, was commissioned at the expense of $30 million.  The Tiancneng Stone LLC in Navoi region organized the extraction and processing of 100,000 cubic meters of granite at the expense of $15 million.

This year, $2.5 billion of foreign direct investment and loans will be disbursed within the framework of 76 projects. The expected investments will be directed to projects for producing energy-saving materials, aerated concrete blocks, fittings, ceramic tiles, and sanitary products made of basalt stone.

Thus, Accord Vision LLC in Tashkent will implement a $6 million project to produce 500 thousand sanitary products per year. Huatao Ceramic Group LLC will create capacities to produce 3.6 million square meters of ceramic tiles in Tashkent region. In Karakalpakstan, Karakalpak Basalt Wool LLC plans to produce 30 thousand tons of basalt mineral thermal insulation materials per year.

Strengthening mutually beneficial ties depends on the far-sighted policy of the leaders of the two countries and their trust in each other.
