CAREC conference held in Bishkek with participation of Uzbekistan delegation

WNAM REPORT: The Uzbekistan delegation took part in the 24th Ministerial Conference of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program, held on 19-20 November in Bishkek.

The head of the Uzbekistan delegation, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, speaking at the opening ceremony, emphasized the need to expand trade and investment cooperation in the region. He expressed support for launching negotiations to conclude the CAREC Agreement on Trade and Investment Facilitation (CARTIF), which is expected to enhance transparency, predictability, and the efficiency of regional economic processes.

During the thematic sessions, the minister presented Uzbekistan’s initiatives aimed at developing physical and digital infrastructure, strengthening regional connectivity, modernizing transport and logistics chains, and increasing resilience to climate risks. Particular attention was given to human capital development, support for innovation, and accelerating digital transformation in the participating countries.

Following the conference, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed to establish a pilot model for the electronic exchange and mutual recognition of conformity certificates among CAREC countries. A Memorandum establishing the CAREC Innovation and Venture Investment Catalyst Fund was also approved. It will support the development of technological entrepreneurship and attract new investment to the region.
