WNAM REPORT: At the annual Autumn Flower Exhibition held at the CDA Model Nursery “Gardenia Hub” on Park Road in the federal capital Islamabad, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) won first place in the educational institutions category. This two-day exhibition was held on December 6 and 7. It is noteworthy that the university participated in competitions across three different categories and secured first place in each. The exhibition was organized by the National Horticulture Society with the support of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
In the competitions for various categories of chrysanthemums, many institutions from across the country participated including Arid Agriculture University, Islamabad Club, Pakistan Air Force Islamabad, CDA, Attock Refinery, the Floriculture Department and Allama Iqbal Open University.
The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mehmood congratulated the gardeners for their hard work and success, stating that the university is proud of its gardeners. He further added that by winning awards at the flower exhibition every year, the gardeners elevate the university’s name with pride. According to Horticulture Officer Syed Wajih-ul-Hasan the university had prepared various types of chrysanthemums for the exhibition.
