WNAM Monitoring; Vice Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastaev, during a meeting with the First Deputy Minister of Communications, Railways and Maritime Affairs of Pakistan, proposed establishing multimodal transportation between the two countries using rail and road transport through the territories of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.
The official’s proposal came against the backdrop of the absence of direct railway communication between Kazakhstan and Pakistan at present.
Lastaev noted the potential of transit corridors and the need to create an effective transport and logistics system to enhance partnerships.
“He also spoke about the prospects for cooperation in the maritime sector and proposed jointly developing the international transport corridors North-South and TMTM (Middle/Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor),” the source writes.
