WNAM REPPORT: The Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Yusuf Raza Gilani has left for an official visit to Turkmenistan at the invitation of the Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan Atajan Movlamov saw off the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan at the International Airport of Islamabad.
During the conversation at the airport, Y.R. Gilani noted his interest in exchanging frequent visits of parliamentary delegations and developing a dialogue for further strengthening the cooperation between our countries.
From the Turkmen side, it was reported that the leadership of neutral Turkmenistan is interested in working together with Pakistan to strengthen peace and economic development in the region.
In this context, the parties discussed key infrastructure and energy projects, such as the gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) and the electricity transmission line Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP), which are of strategic importance for strengthening regional interconnection and energy cooperation.
Ambassador A. Movlamov wished the Chairman of the Senate a successful and fruitful visit to Turkmenistan.
