OIC-COMSTECH and UNI Launch Online Digital Courses for Students from OIC Member States

WNAM REPORT: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (OIC-COMSTECH), in collaboration with UNI and leading Chinese technical institutions, officially launched a series of Online Digital Courses aimed at strengthening skills development, digital literacy, and human capital across OIC Member States.
The launching ceremony was held virtually and brought together senior academic leaders, policymakers, and industry representatives from across the OIC region and partner countries. The distinguished participants included Mr. Cheng Shuqiang, President of Shaanxi Technical College of Finance & Economics; Mr. Kang Kun, Vice President of Henan Institute of Economics and Trade; Mr. Wu Jiaoyu, President of Guangzhou Songtian Polytechnic College; and Mr. Wang Peng, Managing Director of ITMC Technology Co. Ltd.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH, underscored the transformative role of digital education in addressing contemporary socio-economic and technological challenges faced by the Muslim world. He emphasized that education has historically been the backbone of progress in Islamic civilization and that modern digital learning platforms are now extending this legacy into the era of globalization and technological innovation.
Dr. Choudhary highlighted that the initiative serves as a vital bridge connecting learners across borders, ensuring that quality education is no longer constrained by geography but empowered through technology and international cooperation. He further shared that a total of 530 students have enrolled in the first phase of the program, reflecting strong regional and global interest.
The enrolled participants represent 15 countries, including Somalia, Kenya, Nigeria, Mauritania, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Gambia, Yemen, Indonesia, Chad, Malaysia, China, the United Arab Emirates, and Gabon, demonstrating the broad international reach and inclusivity of the initiative.
The online courses focus on future-oriented and high-impact disciplines, including data science, artificial intelligence, digital entrepreneurship, renewable energy, and public health. These fields have been carefully selected to equip students with market-relevant competencies, enhance employability, and support innovation-driven and sustainable development in participating countries.
The event also highlighted the growing importance of South–South cooperation and academic–industry partnerships in advancing science, technology, and innovation. UNI and ITMC Technology Co. Ltd. were acknowledged for their significant contributions to curriculum development, digital infrastructure, and technical support, ensuring the successful delivery of cross-border online education.
The launch of these Online Digital Courses marks another important milestone in OIC-COMSTECH’s ongoing efforts to promote capacity building, knowledge sharing, and technological advancement among OIC Member States, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive, sustainable, and knowledge-driven development through education.
