WNAM REORT: President of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (RCCI), Mr. Usman Shaukat, has lauded the Green Crescent Trust (GCT) for its outstanding contribution to providing quality school education to underprivileged communities in Pakistan, particularly in rural and underserved areas of Sindh.
He expressed these views while delivering the keynote address at a special event hosted in honour of Green Crescent Trust, aimed at mobilising support from Islamabad’s business community for GCT’s ongoing education campaign. The event was attended by a large number of prominent philanthropists and donors from the federal capital, who announced generous contributions to support the enrolment of out-of-school children. The funds raised will enable GCT to provide quality education to nearly 5,000 students for one year.
RCCI President emphasised the urgent need for a robust, transparent, and well-monitored mechanism—developed with the active involvement of civil society—to ensure effective utilisation of the trillions of rupees allocated annually by federal and provincial governments for public health and education.
GCT Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Zahid Saeed, TI, in his presentation highlighted the severity of Pakistan’s education crisis and outlined GCT’s proven, scalable model. He shared that GCT has established 173 charitable schools over the past 31 years, educating more than 34,660 students—over 40 percent of them girls—and supporting 2,150 orphaned students. He also shared GCT’s Vision 2030 to expand its network to 250 schools serving 100,000 students.
Gen. (R) Amjad Khattak, Member GCT Management Committee, appreciated the unwavering support of RCCI President Usman Shaukat for social causes, particularly his steadfast backing of Green Crescent Trust’s noble mission.
