Time was when persons of the caliber of Dag Hammarskjöld, Kufi Anan , Kurt Waldaim and U Thant used to be Secretary Generals of the UN. For quite some time now the super powers sitting in the UN make it a point to maneuver posting of that person from the third world country as its Secretary General who is toothless and yes man. The present incumbent of this office belongs to one of the poorest and weakest countries of the world who has’ t any grit and determination to call a spade a spade nor is he capable to blow whistle on any super power found guilty of floundering any law and convention. It is, therefore, asking too much from the present incumbent of the office of UN Secretary General to call Trump to the carpet. The UN will before long lose its credibility in the eyes of its member counties if super powers continued to flout laws with impunity and its Secretary General looks the other way.
