WNAM REPORT: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, held a live E-Katcheri session at the BISP Headquarters in Islamabad today. The primary objective of the E-Katcheri was to directly hear the public, understand their issues, and ensure the prompt and effective redressal of grievances.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson BISP Senator Rubina Khalid stated that the Benazir Income Support Programme is named after Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, a courageous and fearless leader who struggled for the rights of the poor and underprivileged and ultimately sacrificed her life for this cause. She emphasized that women should draw strength from the courage and bravery of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and raise their voices against any injustice or exploitation they face.
She urged beneficiaries to immediately report any illegal deduction from their assistance amount, any demand for additional money in the name of a scheme or fees, or any other issue to BISP officials so that timely action can be taken.
The Chairperson made it clear that no compromise would be made on the rights of beneficiaries and that strict and timely action would be taken on all complaints. She stressed that the assistance amount is the rightful entitlement of beneficiaries and must be received in full, without any deductions.
Senator Rubina Khalid further stated that practical steps are being taken under the Benazir Hunarmand Programme to improve the lives of deserving individuals. She informed that the Benazir Hunarmand Portal is now open, through which any member of an eligible household can register for technical training of their choice to acquire skills and access dignified employment opportunities.
During the one-hour E-Katcheri session, 27 callers from across the country directly contacted the Chairperson BISP and presented their issues. Directors General of BISP and relevant officers were also present to ensure the immediate resolution of public complaints.
Most of the complaints received were related to re-survey, biometric verification, programme enrollment, and receipt of stipends. The Chairperson listened attentively to all grievances and issued clear instructions to the concerned authorities that no negligence would be tolerated in addressing public issues and that all complaints must be resolved within the stipulated timeframe.
