ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation with Tarique Rahman, head of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), and extended his heartfelt congratulations on his party’s electoral success.
In an official statement, the prime minister also congratulated the people of Bangladesh on the successful conduct of the general elections and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
According to the statement, both leaders discussed matters of mutual interest as well as regional peace and development.
They also paid tribute to Begum Khaleda Zia for her services to Pakistan–Bangladesh relations. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also extended an invitation to Rahman for an early visit to Pakistan.
