WNAM Report:: Weave for Peace Project has been successfully culminated with the Certificate Distribution Ceremony organized by Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS) . This transformative project, aimed at empowering women and girls through skill development, has been a beacon of hope and progress in the rural landscapes of South Punjab, Pakistan.
The Weave for Peace project has been completed as a result of the cooperation between IPDS and China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD) and Silk Road NGO Cooperation Network. The aim of this cooperation was to provide skills training, including digital and e-commerce skills, crafts and essential business information to the young Pakistani women. The objective of this partnership, named “Weave for Peace,” is to help rebuild communities and contribute to the sustainable development of Pakistan through the e-commerce skills development of young Pakistani women. The MoU is also meant to promote friendship and enhance people-to-people connectivity between China and Pakistan through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) framework.
From February to December 2023, the Weave for Peace project has made substantial contribution towards uplifting and educating women and girls in these communities through skill development training programs and modules. The initiative, guided by a strategic vision, meticulously engaged with the target communities to understand their unique needs and priorities. These programs, conducted at vocational centers with flexible timings and free training, have been pivotal in fostering sustainable development and community empowerment.
The certificate ceremony marked the culmination of the third and final batch of trainees who have completed their training in three highly demanded trades: Digital Marketing, Dress Making, and Beautician. A total of 160 trainees were honored at this event. Ms. Faiza Ansari and Shakeela Qayyum, distinguished guests at the ceremony, distributed certificates to the graduates, celebrating their hard-won achievements.
This milestone is not just a celebration of individual achievement but a testament to the power of skilled development in transforming lives and communities. The Weave for Peace project stands as an exemplary model of how vocational training can create impactful change in marginalized communities. The graduates of this program are now equipped with employable skills that will enable them to realize their true potential and leverage their comparative advantages.
The Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies remains committed to its mission of empowering communities through education and skill development.
